What exactly is Lacrosse? Lacrosse if the fastest growing sport in North America and is becoming more popular worldwide as a challenging sport that can be played by many ages. Lacrosse jerseys can be made of mesh for warmer weather or could be long sleeve and heavier for outdoor matches or games. Another important piece of equipment necessary for lacrosse is the stick that the players use to catch and throw the ball.
Lacrosse sticks are about 3 and a half feet to 6 feet long and are 6.5 inches wide with the netting to catch and control the ball. The goalkeeper has a stick that is 15 inches wide to help with blocking shots and keeping the ball out of the net.
There are 10 players per side on the lacrosse field. A goalie who minds the net, 3 defensemen, 3 mid fielders, and 3 attackers who are attempting to score a goal by putting the ball into the opposition’s net. Players may run with the ball, kick it, and pass it to other players.
Lacrosse is a derivative of a tribal game played by Native Americans. The sport was used to settle differences between tribes and also to train you men on the skills necessary to become a warrior. Although the earliest players of ancient lacrosse must have had some type of uniform, it probably wasn’t the lacrosse jerseys we now see the players wear.
