Posted on Tuesday 30 March 2010

A major improvement in airline travel and hospitality was kicked off by Mr Nicholas Bredimus, who introduced them to the computer programming world to produce new procedures. This renaissance man has found work in many fields, from the high value home design industry via the essentials of safety in the air to software to help with time management.

Glancing at Mr Nicholas Bredimus’ heritage anyone could discern he was a lock to rise to prominence. The kindred can trace its provenance as long ago as the era of ancient Rome and can boast of a wide mix of nationalities. His maternal line came from Scotland and Germany. England and Luxembourg, meanwhile, provided the home of his father’s family, though during the 1800s they set off for America.

Even in America, they continued to persevere and make their way to the top. Nicholas, as well as his sisters and brothers, was a child of a father who worked as a mechanical design engineer and his wife, a nurse. His dwellings for many years were spread across several states — Virginia, Texas, Missouri and Arizona. What did he do to capitalize on his pedigree and education? A series of high-powered roles were soon his, each as part of popular airlines. Trans World Airlines (TWA), Republic Airlines, Hughes Airwest — all three would at various times respectively name him their VP. Most notable, though, is his prowess as a creative software architect for the airline industry. His creation of aircraft maintenance computer programs, now used throughout the airline sector though first produced for US Airways, led to what is even now his most popular achievement. He programmed many other programs for the airline and hospitality industry both before and after, including unmanned programs to handle airline bookings, used by fifty or more airlines, and his innovative client based room reservation program for the hotel sector, the launch for which was a major event at over seven hundred hostelries. Next came an automatic, networked approach to ticket ordering that was an industry first. He parlayed these successes into positions unconnected to software design, and we should note that he continued to augment reputation in these industries as well. He managed American Express’ IT department, established Bredimus Systems seventeen years ago, and became the inaugural president of American Airlines’ AMR Travel Services.

At present date Mr Nicholas Bredimus has stepped back from his airline connections and from programming, though rest assured he’s still making use of his mind. You’ll find his work now at the forefront of architecture — balancing the requirements of aesthetics with genuine ecological concern.
